Sunglasses Features

Product Overview


If you have ever lost your sunglasses over the side and watched them sink quickly out of site, you will appreciate our floating sunglasses. They have been designed with integral floatation and feature polarised lenses specifically for use on the water.

gill floating sunglasses• All Gill models are produced using Grilamid TR90
-Grilamid TR90 is light, tough, flexible, excellent coloration and chemically resistant.
-Grilamid TR90 is approved biocompatibility, safe for use and direct skin contact.
• All have premium grade foam inserts to ensure frame floatability.
• Extra wrap around styling for maximum protection and a great fit.
• Lenses with UV Protection and Scratch Resistance.

The floating styles are equipped with Polaroid ® Polarizing lens, technical name is S13. The support layers of this material is CAB (Cellulose Acetate Butyrate). It is a 7 layer laminate with a high quality scratch resistant hardcoating.  The whole lens is presspolished and optically correct, optical class 1, CE standard.

CAB has advantages and disadvantages.
+ unbreakable.
+ 99% polarizing efficiency.
+ 100% chipping free.
+ optically class 1 power readings and refraction is excellent.
- fairly scratch resistant 2.5 HD.
+ lightest weight.
+ very good thermal stability.
- distortion along frame edges possible.

Gill Lens Application Guide

Choosing the correct lens is important when deciding which sunglasses are right for you. The table below was designed to help you choose the correct lenses for your situation, and get maximum enjoyment from you Gill sunglasses. Lens colors are not interchangeable between frames except Pro Goggles.

Smoke Offshore, deep water, or inshore in bright sunlight
Brown Amber Shallow inshore waters or flats in bright sunlight
Copper Overcast or low light conditions
Yellow Very low light and heavy overcast
Blue Mirror Very Good all-around use in bright sunlight
Green Mirror Low light / and cloudy conditions
